Baby Food

I just finished making Maggie's baby food. Yes, that is right I am making it. Some poeple look at me like I am crazy when I tell them this and some have called me a "granola" mom. I am the farthest thing from "granola". I have some good reasons for doing this.
1)It saves money.
2)It is good for Maggie and I know exactly what she is eating.
3)It is EASY.
So those of you who want to try it here is what I do. Buy a bag of frozen veggies/fruit, canned or fresh. Cook them either in the microwave or boil them. Put them in a blender and puree it. Pour into ice cube trays and freeze. Each cube equals one ounce. When it is time to eat, I get a couple out, microwave it and pour into a bowl. See, easy!

Happy Birthday Mai!

Last week my sweet grandmother turned 84. The whole family went over and celebrated with cake and presents. She has been such an important part of my life growing up. Maggie is named after her and I am so glad that she is here to watch Maggie grow up.

Swingin away...

We live across the street from a park and when we bought the house Danny and I talked about how great it will be when we have kids. It is pretty old school with two swings and a slide but such a great addition to the neighborhood. Tonight we walked over so Maggie could try out the swing. She loved it! If it weren't for the giant moquitoes, we would have stayed there all night. Here are some pics of the first swing!

Rubber ducky you're the one....

Maggie has been in a weird stage in the bath tub. She is too big for the infant tub and really too little and cannot sit well enough for the big tub. So while shopping at the best store ever, Target I found the solution. A blow up rubber ducky for her to sit in. It takes up the entire tub and the bright yellow duck does not match the bathroom but I have learned to embrace primary colors in my house for Maggie's sake. She loved it and was so proud that she was sitting up and able to splash around.

Look at me!

Splish splash I'm taking a bath!

Smiling at daddy

6 months

Dear Maggie,

Happy 6 months! We have had such a fun month and you are getting so big! You went on your first vacation this summer to Colorado and you did so good! We drove with you 13 hours in the car.You were such a trooper and really did not mind it at all until the last two hours on the way home. You loved the mountains and the cool air as well as shopping in town. This month you also learned how to sit up! One day we put you on the ground and you sat all by yourself...daddy and I were so proud. You are smiling all of the time and are now starting to recognize strangers. We have heard your cute laugh a couple of times and are waiting for more! You have moved away from baby toys and now are playing with blocks and banging things together all of the time. You do like to be loud because you are also talking ALL of the time. Recently you started saying/whispering da da da da and it melted your daddy's heart. I am loving watching every new thing you do and I thank the Lord a hundred times a day for allowing me to stay home with you. You are also loving eating baby food! Your menu includes sweet potatoes, squash, peas, carrots, peaches, bananas and apples. You are not a big fan of green beans and are really starting to like juice from a sippy cup. You are such a gift to us and we pray that God continues to bless you as you grow and develop. You are so precious to us sweet baby girl.

Love,

Mommy

Crested Butte

For our vacation this summer, we went with my family to Crested Butte, CO. We have been to Colorado for vacation over the last 4 years and Crested Butte has become my favorite. I do not know if it is the precious town, cool weather, aspen trees, God's beautiful creation or just being under one roof with my family, but it is one of my happy places. Danny, Adam and my dad were able fish a lot and Lisa, Mom, Maggie and I hung out and shopped a lot. We had some great meals and great fellowship. I am so thankkful that we were able to go! Here are some of my favorite pictures.

Girls Weeked

In July, Maggie and I packed up the car and headed to Dallas for a girls weekend. We stayed with Shea and Karen brought her darling daughter Kate. We had so much fun shopping, playing and just hanging out. We also were able to have brunch with another sweet friend, Rebecca. I loved seeing them and I am so glad that Maggie got to know them too! Thanks Shea for letting us invade your house...we cannot wait for baby Davis to join in the fun!
